Council OKs budget

The budget for fiscal year 1989 was adopted by the DeKalb City Council in the last of a series of special meetings June 28.

The council approved the budget after additional funds were allocated and a change was made in the funding for human services.

The council adopted City Manager Mark Stevens’ recommendation that $5,500 be used to fund Safe Passage Inc. For Battered Women.

The council also approved a second intern position at a cost of $8,400.

The council approved a $2.5 million budget for the DeKalb police department.

Of this amount, the city will spend an estimated $225,000 for a new police communications system.
