Applications for the 6th Ward alderman position will be accepted by DeKalb Mayor Greg Sparrow through June 30.

Sparrow said he hopes to appoint someone by August 1 to fill the vacancy opened by Alderman Steve Brody’s resignation.

Applicants must be registered voters and must have lived in DeKalb for one year. Also, applicants must have lived in the 6th Ward for 30 days prior to Sept. 1.

The term beginning September 1, will run until April when alderman will have to be re-elected.
