An Arlington Heights resident was arrested and charged with improper lane usage after the car she was driving crashed into a window at Illini Tire of DeKalb, 1031 W. Lincoln Hwy.

DeKalb Police report the car driven by Teresa McGrath, 31, 722 E. Golf Rd., Arlington Heights, had just completed a northbound turn off West Lincoln Highway onto Annie Glidden Road.

McGrath’s vechicle left the curb lane and entered the center lane, striking a government-owned car traveling north on Annie Glidden.

The car was driven by Vicente M. Rosado, 37, 2200 Kingston Dr., Wheaton.

After striking Rosado’s car, the car driven by McGrath veered right, and McGrath fell out of the car onto the sidewalk, police report.

Police said the moving car then continued driverless and went through the window of Illini Tire of DeKalb.

James W. Anderson, owner of the business, said the cost to repair and replace the damage to the building was estimated at about $1,000 to $1,300. One window was shattered and wood boards beneath the window were broken by the car.

The accident occured after store hours, and no one was in the building at the time, he said.

McGrath was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital where she was listed in stable condition Thursday night and was released Friday.

No other injuries were reported, police said.

Police report McGrath is scheduled to appear in court on May 20.
