HSC tower design
March 30, 1988
The committee planning the Holmes Student Center tower’s new design will meet at 2 p.m. in the student center’s Illinois Room to discuss specifics for the tower’s schematic design.
Conrad Miller, physical plant project manager, said committee members today will decide on the size and type of windows to be installed on the tower and the shape of the dome for the tower’s roof.
“(Wares and Associates of Rockford) will come in with some different propositions for the top of the tower,” Miller said. “We’ll get the committee’s reaction on that and look at some window samples.
“It’s our job to make sure the design stays within the proposed budget (for the construction) and that it’s what the students and the committee would like to see,” he said.
Miller said there will be no discussion concerning the project’s funding today. The proposed $1,995,000 price tag for the work will be funded by revenue bonds which are funded in part by student fees.
