Treasurer candidate Roger Beith said his plans include unity within the Student Association and the establishment of an impartial finance committee.

“I would strive for unity within the SA by personally promoting programs and issues that are of interest to all students,” Beith said.

As treasurer, Beith said the finance committee he appoints would represent a cross-section of NIU. “The treasurer deals closely with campus organizations. The integrity of this relationship is questioned when treasurers have pet organizations they attempt to grant advantages in the budgeting process.”

Beith served as an SA senator for one year. He resigned from the finance committee after serving for 1 1/2 years. “I felt some members had conflicts of interest with some organizations we budgeted, and I didn’t want to be affiliated with certain decisions that were made.” Beith was a member of the Student Regent Vote Committee, the SA Elections Committee and was chairman of the endorsements subcommittee.
