Student Association vice presidential candidate Gregg Bliss said he plans to improve relations between campus organizations and the Student Association.
Bliss said he would assign senators to liaison positions to directly involve them with the organizations. This would promote “a channel they can reach the senate through. It shouldn’t be such an intimidating step” to approach the senate with ideas or problems.
He also said procedures involving newly-elected senators should be improved. They should not be given “on-the-job training” but instead become educated on parliamentary procedure, the budgeting process, constitution and bylaws before they enter their term.
“Once you’re a senator you should have an understanding” of the way the senate operates, he said.
Bliss said the SA has “to open the channels of communication.” The SA senate exists to provide support for organizations, not competition, he said.
Bliss is an SA senator and serves on the SA Internal Affairs Committee.
