Committee considers bylaw modifications
March 23, 1988
The Student Association Internal Affairs Committee tonight will further discuss bylaw revisions including the removal of the Programming and Activities committee and the Student Committee on Political Education.
The revisions must get final approval from the SA senate.
Diana Turowski, committee member, suggested at the Feb. 24 meeting to recommend removal of the Programming and Activities Committee.
Turowski said IAC should recommend a liaison between the SA and the Campus Activities Board.
The committee also will recommend the removal of SCOPE. SA Vice President Cam Davis said the committee will vote for the mergence of SCOPE with the Student Committee on Political Action. SCOPA promotes involvement while SCOPE promotes learning, Davis said.
Discussion on this issue will continue in the SA conference room at 7 p.m.
At the March 2 meeting, member Becky Doetsch suggested the removal of the International Relations Committee with some of its bylaws combined with the Minority Relations Committee.
Minority Relations Adviser Larry Robertson said, “It’s already understood that international relations students are a minority.”
At the March 9 meeting, member Gregg Bliss suggested the implementations of bylaws which clarify, in categories, how organizations could be recognized for funding.
Bliss said they are “trying to make provisions for organizations that aren’t recognized or are about to be recognized.”
