Promoting unity among all NIU organizations is one of Student Association presidential candidate Dale Bradley’s goals.

To create unity, senators have to listen to the needs of all organizations and then be able to weigh them. Bradley said since he is not involved in any major organizations he would be unbiased.

Bradley said he would improve the effectiveness of the office since he is not affiliated with any large organization and he would bring in new and creative ideas.

As one creative solution, Bradley suggested including with registration materials five raffle tickets for students to sell at $20 each. The raffle would take the place of a tuition increase, he said. The student would pay only if he did not sell all of his tickets, he said.

He said deterring senators from eating, drinking and talking during senate meetings is not an issue in the effectiveness of the senate.

He said one of the problems with non-attendance at senate meetings is senators are losing interest in their jobs. “Meetings should be comfortable so senators will want to come,” he said.
