Text lost on plane

Is there an NIU student out there who traveled to Pittsburgh this weekend? If so, did you lose a comparative politics textbook?

While traveling from Pittsburgh to Chicago Feb. 14 on U.S Air flight 205, DeKalb resident Mike Maher found the book entitled “Modern Political Systems: Europe” on the seat beside him on the DC 9 plane.

Inside the book was a syllabus for NIU course Comparative Politics 260 and a receipt from the bookstore, Maher said. The book was purchased on Jan. 25 from the Village Commons Bookstore for $34. “That is a pretty stiff amount of money for someone to drop for a textbook,” he said.

The book can be claimed at the University Police public safety building.

Maher, a teacher for Kaneland District 302, said he went to NIU during 1970 and 1971 and remembers how much money he had to spend for textbooks at that time.

Maher said the flight was overbooked and the person who lost the book probably rushed off the plane and left it behind.
