Greek reps. to discuss mandatory alcohol policy

Executive board members representing greek organizations will be discussing which of the newly established greek alcohol policy guidelines should be mandatory.

The guidelines were created to “reduce the risk of people getting hurt” and to help prevent liability lawsuits against greek organizations in cases of alcohol abuse, said Dave Stewert, InterFraternity Council vice president.

Jon Dalton, vice president for student affairs, said the guidelines are similar to NIU’s guidelines, and he said he was pleased the greeks have developed their own policy.

Representatives from the IFC and Panhellenic Council will discuss the guidelines today at 6 p.m. in the UP&A office, Greek Adviser Jeff Cufaude said.

The policy includes a list of 15 guidelines advising greeks of methods to prevent alcohol abuse.
