Face AIDS reality
January 22, 1988
When will the president wake up to reality? If he did not continue to purchase unneeded nuclear weapons systems, enough money would be freed to find cures for AIDS and most cancers, probably feed and shelter the homeless and still go a long way toward balancing the budget.
The FDA must also wake up to reality. While people die of AIDS here in America, AIDS sufferers elsewhere in the world are being saved with AIDS drugs which the FDA stubbornly delays testing and approving, not to mention making it illegal to manufacture, prescribe or possess them. The FDA must wake up and cease its inhumane AIDS policy immediately.
The Supreme Court must also wake up to reality and recognize that the true marriage bond is the strong love and mutual sharing relationship between two people—not a piece of paper. The Court must recognize this as well as the need to grant nothing less than full human, civil and economic rights and privileges to all couples, regardless of their sexual preferences.
I urge everyone to wake up the president, Supreme Court, FDA and Congress by sending them copies of this letter. And, as part of a chain letter, send this letter to friends and relatives so that they may also send a copy to their representatives in Congress.
Let’s also all do our part, and make a donation to an AIDS charity.
I ask that my name and address be printed if you are kind enough to print this letter.
