Our sincerest apologies
January 22, 1988
Yesterday’s Northern Star editorial was accompanied by a cartoon in which a CHANCE student was depicted in what appears to be a “dunce cap.” The artist’s intention was to imply that over-generalized rules and restrictions treat CHANCE students like “dunces” by not evaluating each student’s maturity level.
However, the Editorial Board recognizes that this intended meaning was not made as clearly as it should have been. We sincerely apologize to the students and administrators of the CHANCE program and anyone else who felt offended by the cartoon.
