WKDI wire service
January 21, 1988
Does Todd Lipscomb really think providing an alternate news source to students is “suckering” them? WKDI has given its listeners the opportunity to hear their favorite music while being kept up-to-date on NIU events and current world events. Granted, WKDI could read its news from the newspaper, but it’s much more advantageous for students to hear national news as it happens, instead of waiting for the papers.
It’s unfair for listeners to be isolated from national news while they enjoy WKDI’s variety of music. WKDI has been proud to offer its listeners an alternative source of music and news since the 1983 decision to fund the UPI wire. Its removal is a great disservice to NIU, and a large backward step for WKDI.
