NIU’s diving teams will test their ability to handle pressure at Northwestern’s Big Ten Western Meet Friday and Saturday in Evanston.

“They’re (divers) all excited about the meet,” coach Chris Chelich said. “It will be a peak meet before finals and we’re pushing to do well as a team. They’re looking real good in practices and hopefully we’ll see how they hold up under tough competition.”

The major competition should be the Big Ten Conference’s western half, namely the host Northwestern, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Chelich is looking for consistency from all four Huskie divers with Mike Sprehe competing along with women’s entrants Sue Shaghnessy, Madolyn Scotty and Patricia Akerman.
