Equality is for all
December 1, 1987
This is in response to Cathy Casali’s letter Nov. 23. She said she felt cheated by the university because they wouldn’t give her a tutor. The tutors only help blacks and hispanics. She seems like she wants to learn—needs help—and is rejected because she’s white. That does not sound right.
Our country has a good measure of greatness and goodness. People flock to our shores. They believe they will be treated fairly and have equal opportunity. Should we now tell them they will be helped more or less depending on their color?
Should the university load the dice toward a socialistic ideal or should the concepts which made us great—let’s start with fairness—prevail? Consider this.
