The Star’s story on the Montgomery renovation needs clarification—otherwise it is a fine story, and I compliment you on it.

President LaTourette and Provost Baker are quoted as saying the Montgomery renovation is being done to accommodate the Plant Molecular Biology Center. You say the renovation is to accommodate expansion of the Biology Department. The Plant Molecular Biology Center is not an expansion of the Department of Biological Sciences but rather is an independent approved experimental Research Center within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The program is interdisciplinary and was located in Montgomery Hall after space became available when the School of Nursing moved to larger, more suitable quarters.
