ACT test scores
November 19, 1987
For the record, in answer to Aaron Burke’s letter, it should be noted that the Board of Regents does not set the admissions standards for any of the system universities. These standards are set by the individual institutions. NIU’s admissions standards are published in the catalog under admissions criteria. Please refer to pages 18 and 19 in the 1987-88 Undergraduate Catalog for NIU’s admissions criteria.
For purposes of admissions control to reflect the level of available resources, freshmen are admitted on a sliding scale determined by the ACT score and the class rank. To say that a freshman must have an ACT score of 25 for admission to NIU is inaccurate.
