Thank you Aaron Porter for taking the time to express your opinion on the alleged racial bigotry at The Northern Star. As a Star-alum, I can tell you this problem is not new, and the experience you’ve written about is entirely consistent with what was happening back in my day—the early ‘70s.

Many people are quick to criticize the Star for everything from inaccurate reporting to racism; from the pursuit of the trivial to being too nosey. What they fail to consider is the outstanding learning experience a student can get by “toughing it out” for a few years.
