Check the Bible

This is in reference to the Sept. 28, 1987, article about Rev. Richard Woods’ speech about Christian homosexuals. My belief is that God loves heterosexuals and homosexuals, Christians and non-Christians. He, through His son, Jesus, told us to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” I believe He would disapprove of discrimination of any kind.

owever, Rev. Woods said, “Nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality mentioned.” What translation is he reading? I checked the RSU and NIU and both translate the following passages approximately the same:

Men, “although they knew God, neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but in their thinking become futile and their foolish hearts be darkened…Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion (Romans 1:21, 26-27).”

“Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolators nor adulterors nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders … will inherit the kingdom of God (I Cor. 6:9 9-10).” But Paul goes on to say, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (I Cor. 6:11).”

Don’t be deceived! You’re being told that God approves of homosexuality and he doesn’t. But don’t take my word for it. Check it out in the Book.
