Glenn trial will begin for reckless homicide charge

The trial of Demetrius Glenn, charged with reckless homicide in connection with the Oct. 4 death of an NIU student, will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

DeKalb Police charged Glenn after the vehicle he was driving hit another vehicle driven by Ann Smith at the intersection of Lincoln Hwy. and Annie Glidden Road. The accident claimed the life of 21-year-old Christine Billmyer and injured Smith and two other persons.

Billmyer was flown by helicopter to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford where she died later that day.

DeKalb Police apprehended Glenn near the west end of Wendy’s parking lot, 1115 W. Lincoln, after he fled the scene of the accident.

Police also charged Glenn with DUI, driving on revocation, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
