What’s religion?
April 8, 1987
I wish to comment on a recent column.
Secular humanism may not appear to be a religion to the casual observer; however, a review of such articles of faith as the humanist manifesto betrays a zealous religious base. It was the intent of humanist founders to supplant Christianity, something that couldn’t be done if humanism wasn’t a religion.
The Humanist Manifesto describes Christianity as a “rotting corpse,” betraying humanism as the diametric opposite of that faith which is based on a risen Savior.
It is for this reason that Christians such as myself must continue to seek equal treatment under the law, especially when our self-proclaimed enemies receive the passive endorsement of a powerful media.
