Can’t win them all

I wish to take the strongest possible exception to the “cartoon” used to illustrate your editorial “The only thing is winning.” The cartoon’s implication that the idea of winning a game would be a new and radical approach to attract fans is an insult to the coaches and players of all of Northern’s athletic teams. “Fans,” who read the results in the paper the next day, do not see the months of hard work that must take place before the season even starts. They do not see the hours of practice and travel. Not every team can win every game, but there can be no doubt that every coach and player has winning as their number one goal.

I suggest that your alleged “cartoonist” consider a line of work for which he would be better suited.
