Recently a student wrote to The Northern Star discussing SA President, Jim Fischer. Jim Fischer is one of the most intelligent people I have had the pleasure of working with. The writer stated the student regent vote was worked on in 1977, which is true, and because of this fact Jim Fischer’s has not progressed this year. The bill worked on earlier only gave one collective vote to all 3 student regents (NIU, ISU and SSU). The bill presented by State Rep. John Countryman, R-DeKalb, this year, gives each student regent a vote on the Board of Regents. This is the only year progress has been made on this issue, especially with the dedicated work of our Student Regent, Dave Agazzi. Jim Fischer always has the best interests of the students in mind when taking action on issues.
