Top 5 films to check out during Thanksgiving break
November 20, 2019
Going to the cinema might not be on your list of annual Thanksgiving festivities, but this past weekend’s films and this upcoming weekend’s films might change that. Here is a list of popular films in theaters during Thanksgiving break.
“Frozen 2”
“Frozen 2” was released Nov. 22 — just in time for the holiday. “Frozen 2” is a highly anticipated sequel to the 2013 “Frozen,” which is the second highest grossing animated film ever, according to CNET. The film itself will be available in 2D and 3D formats.
“A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood”
Another film was released Nov. 22: “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.” The film is about Mr. Fred Rogers, played by Tom Hanks, and a cynical journalist, played by Matthew Rhys, trying to figure out if his kind and friendly personality is just an act for his show or if the cardigan clad icon is for real.
“21 Bridges”
“21 Bridges” is a crime drama focused on hunting down cop killers, starring “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman. This film was released on the same day as “Frozen 2,” and is a stark contrast.
“Queen and Slim”
“Queen and Slim” is another film not suitable for children or young audiences. It’s a film focusing on two victims of police brutality on the run after one of them, played by Daniel Kaylua, kills a brutal officer. This drama-filled taboo film will also be released Friday.
“Knives Out”
One film that mixes mature content with a teen rating is a film called “Knives Out.” This film will be released Wednesday. “Knives Out,” is a comedic mystery film paying homage to Agatha Christie which is directed by Rian Johnson, the director of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” “Brick” and “Looper.”
