Upcoming Egyptian Theatre Events: March 15-31

Ballet dancers, Tim Curry in drag and bagpiping rockers will all be hosted by The Egyptian Theatre throughout the second half of March. For more information on these excellent events, here is everything going on at DeKalb’s historic landmark from March 15 to the 31st.
March 15-17: Beth Fowler School of Dance “Cinderella”
After bringing Tichaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker” to life in December, the Beth Fowler school of dance returns to the stage with another Russian ballet. Based on the fairytale, Sergei Prokofiev’s “Cinderella” is a classic amongst the ballet world. Four showings shall be performed with showtimes as follows:
March 15: 7 p.m.
March 16: 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
March 17: 2 p.m.
Ticket prices range from 15 to 20 dollars for children and from 24 to 29 dollars for adults depending on seating.
March 22: “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”
Once again, the cult classic will be shown over 40 years after its initial release. The horror science-fiction comedy sees two teenagers who stumble onto a castle filled with transvestites, aliens and rock star Meatloaf. Besides the film itself, the plot will also be brought to life by the Irrational Masters shadow cast. The late night double feature picture show starts at 8 p.m. with tickets costing 10 dollars with prop kits costing five dollars.
March 29: The Red Hot Chili Pipers
Not to be confused with The Red Hot Chili PEPPERS, The Red Hot Chili PIPERS are a group of Scots who combine classical Scottish music, including bagpipes, with classic rock songs. The nine, kilt wearing musicians have played at the Egyptian Theatre before, according to their website, and perviously had a setlist featuring the work of Queen, AC/DC and Deep Purple as well as traditional Scottish Hymns. The show starts at 8 p.m. with tickets ranging from 20 to 45 dollars.
March 30: Egyptian Theatre Flashlight Tour
If one is in the mood for creepy tours, The Egyptian’s Flashlight tour is the place to be. Over the course of two hours, guests will be conducted around the nooks and crannies of the nearly 90 year-old theater. Ghost stories will be told and interesting facts about one of DeKalb’s biggest landmarks will be learned. The tour starts at 8 p.m. with tickets ranging from 15 to 20 dollars. Participants must bring their own flashlights.
