Military and Post-Traditional Student Services offers resources for non-traditional students
January 26, 2019
The beauty of a college education is that it’s meant to be tailored to your interests: the accessibility of campus, your courses and most of all the university resources.
Military and Post-Traditional Student Services (MPTSS) recognizes students who aren’t the protagonists of the stereotypical young-adult, college flick. MPTSS connects non-traditional students with resources geared towards their life experiences.
The MPTSS lounge is a space for anyone who hasn’t followed the educational path of enrolling in NIU directly after high school. MPTSS is established specifically for veteran, commuter and transfer students, as well as anyone else who’s taken a non-traditional route to higher education.
This space allows students to get connected with nearby campus resources while also offering a casual lounge area, complete with couches and a TV. Due to renovations at the Holmes Student Center, the lounge is temporarily located in the Campus Life Building, Room 170.
Room 170 offers close proximity to Military Student Benefits Counseling just upstairs in Room 240 and also doubles as a lactation room for students with infants.
If you’re a non-traditional student still looking to get connected on campus, stop by the MPTSS Lounge today!
