Ugg reveals new boot line.

DeKALB — During Paris Men’s Fashion Week, Ugg premiered a collaboration collection with Parisian fashion label Y/Project. Their latest designs featured taupe thigh-high Ugg boots and triple-layered boot renditions intended for consumers.

“I feel like if they were heeled, girls would wear them,” Dominique Sella, freshman fashion merchandising major, said. “This honestly hasn’t been the craziest thing I’ve seen down the runway, and I bet people think they are ugly now, but they will be wearing them later on.”

The boots resemble current trends, combining the slouch boot and thigh-high look. Y/Project’s Belgium creative director Glenn Martens expressed his vision by comparing Uggs to a warm pot of butter and explaining that the legs of the body need to be immersed in warmth during the winter season. Martens and Ugg then decided to design an Ugg boot that “climbs up to the crotch and covers the whole leg,” according to a Jan. 18 Cosmopolitan article.

“I disagree with those boots,” senior fashion merchandising major Ariel Greene said. “I could never see anyone wearing those. They look like extra skin hanging from your thigh. I feel like this is meant for the everyday person to wear as well, so that is very crazy considering it’s not like a runway-only piece.”

All versions seen in the collection will be available for purchase during Fall 2018 and will retail from $270 to $1,380, according to a Jan. 17 New York Post article.
