Volleyball adds setter to 2018 roster
January 25, 2018
DeKalb — The volleyball team announced the addition of a new Huskie in junior setter Amanda Krahl. She is a transfer from Appalachian State University and has two more years of collegiate eligibility.
Krahl appeared in 25 matches this past season averaging over seven assists and nearly two digs per set during her two seasons at Appalachian State.
The former Mountaineer made 19 appearances as a freshman, which included 13 starts. Krahl recorded 489 assists during her freshman year and averaged nearly eight assists per set with the addition of 21 kills, 103 digs and 16 blocks.
“The first noticeable trait about Amanda is that she is a competitor, and she will bring that energy to our gym,” said Head Coach Ray Gooden, according to NIU Media Services. “She comes to us with collegiate experience, and that will also help our group continue to move forward. Amanda is solid with her setting fundamentals and is a positive addition to our program.”
Krahl is the fourth Huskie to be added to the roster for the 2018 season, as she joins freshmen Grace Balensiefer, Angie Gromos and Jasmine Kemp, who all signed with NIU in November.
