DeKALB — DeKalb Police Department officials made an arrest after an undercover officer was invited into the home of a DeKalb resident to exchange money for a sex act.

Jessica Olson, 30, of DeKalb, advertised herself on a website called backpage.com, which is a free classified listing site similar to Craigslist.

DeKalb Police Commander Robert Redel said an undercover officer made contact with Olson through the website where Olson agreed to perform a sex act in exchange for money. Olson then invited the undercover officer to her home April 20 on the 800 block of Taylor Street where she was arrested.

In recent years, incidents of prostitution happen less on actual street corners and more online. Arrests for prostitution are not common in the DeKalb area, Redel said. He speculated around three or four arrests have been made in the past six months involving prostitution.
