April 20 is National Cheddar Fries Day. What better way to celebrate this holiday than with a basket of cheese fries? Here are four of my favorite places to get cheese fries around the DeKalb area. 1. Fatty’s Pub and Grille, 1312 W. Lincoln Highway — Indulge in one of Fatty’s pre-game warm ups: loaded buffalo fries, which are fries topped with melted cheddar jack cheese, buffalo chicken, lettuce, tomato, onions and ranch.

2. Portillo’s Hot Dogs, 1780 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore — Spice up Portillo’s already delicious fries by ordering their cheese fries, which come with a side of cheddar cheese to dip the fries in. 

3. Twin Tavern, 1028 4th Street — This hole-in-the wall place serves fantastic fries, so why not treat yourself and get their side of cheese with them?

4. Steak ‘n Shake, 2380 Sycamore Road — A classic for 24/7 quick eats, Steak n’ Shake are known for their steakburgers and milkshakes. Their unsung hero? Cheese fries. The shoestring  fries slathered in a cheese sauce brings paradise to taste buds.
