DeKALB — A DeKalb resident was charged with violating his sex offender registration following a domestic dispute Saturday.
Police were initially called about a domestic disturbance between Nerak Scaife, 30, of DeKalb, and his girlfriend, said DeKalb Police Commander Robert Redel. He was charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and intimidation for the incident.
Upon being charged, it was discovered Scaife was a sex offender who had violated his registration restrictions. Because of this, he was charged with sex offender registration violation and presence restriction.
Redel said this type of charge often results from a registered offender not reporting a change in address.
