March 3, 2017
DeKALB | Eric Dannenmaier, College of Law dean, was placed on administrative leave Feb. 15 after the Human Resources Office received a complaint furthering an internal investigation, according to a statement by NIU spokesperson Joe King.
Dannenmaier voluntarily went on paid administrative leave Feb. 17, pending outcome of the administrative investigation. At this time there is no set deadline for when the investigation will be complete.
Mark W. Cordes, College of Law professor, will assume the duties and responsibilities of dean during interim.
“NIU takes all matters of [the] complaint seriously and is committed to conducting a thorough investigation,” King said.
The Northern Star received a news tip Feb. 20 regarding the investigation and filed a freedom of information act Feb. 21 to understand the employees placed under administrative leave. We received our FOIA March 3; Dannenmaier was confirmed to be placed on leave.
