Why I Love Let’s Plays
March 20, 2017
What’s better than hearing Markiplier’s lovely voice scream and rage while he’s playing a game? The answer is … nothing.
Like podcasts, watching let’s plays have a calming and therapeutic effect on me. I’m not sure why but I just love watching my favorite youtubers play games that I will never touch like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
My top two youtubers to watch are Markiplier, a.k.a. Markimoo, and Jacksepticeye.
I feel like I’m sitting in the same room as them and I’m just watching them play games. Now, I know that may sound boring but they are so funny! Hearing them curse and scream about a game is absolutely hilarious. On top of that, I get to watch them play all kinds of cool games.
I’m a story person so I love telling stories and listening to them. Every game has a storyline and I get to learn the story without having to go through all the obstacles and trials that a game presents. Basically, I’m relying on their excellent gaming skills to unravel these storylines and all I have to do is watch. Perfect.
Markiplier has recently finished playing Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. If you haven’t heard of the Resident Evil series, it’s usually about an virus outbreak that turns people into undead, people-eating monsters or zombies. I don’t do zombies so I will never play this game myself but it was interesting to watch him play it. I don’t think the game is scary but just knowing that you have to run from multiple people looking for you so they can kill and infect you is some extra anxiety that I don’t need in my life. The story was great and I could really get into it because there were reasons for everything and there was always more to a situation that we would later find out about.
Games like these really make me appreciate game developers and I’m always so blown away by the stories they come up with to make a game progress.
I’ve learned of so many games that I wouldn’t have known about without my lovely Markimoo and Jacksepticeye. They usually end up playing some of the same games and it’s fun to see how differently they handle the challenges of the games.
Watching these let’s plays really take my mind of things and gives me a moment to relax and just watch a good story unfold.
If you’re into watching let’s plays, you know what I’m talking about but if you’re not, I recommend giving these guys some views. I hope they have the same relaxing effect on you!
