DeKALB — Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene of an off-road vehicle accident in rural Kirkland Saturday night.

Dakota Sikula, 21, of Hampshire, was riding a Honda ATV when he fatally collided with Douglas Wallace Jr., 21, of Kirkland, who was riding a Yamaha dirt bike on Cherry Valley Road, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office press release.

For unknown reasons, one vehicle did not have its headlights on, said Andy Sullivan, Chief Deputy of the DeKalb County Police Department.

“This was a tragic accident,” Sullivan said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families involved.”

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s office is investigating the accident.
