DeKALB — The School of Theatre and Dance is showcasing four mainstage productions during this spring semester.

Here are the four shows that are performing this semester at Huntley Middle School, 1515 S. 4th Street.

“Trestle at Pope Lick Creek”

This production is about a young man imprisoned for murder and searching for the beauty in life’s bleakest moments.

Written by Naomi Wallace in 2000, this story of a boy and girl desperately attempting to find hope in the wake of a dismal future is surely to tug at your heartstrings.

The show will be performed February 2-5 and 9-11.

“Romeo and Juliet.”

Fans of William Shakespeare’s romantic and genuine writing are sure to be delighted by the performance.

Complete with dashing sword fights, harsh family rivalry, and true love, this production will inspire the poet in all of us. Romeo and Juliet is arguably the greatest love story of all time.

The show will be performed February 23-26 and March 2-4.

“Eurydice”

The season continues with “Eurydice,” a modern version of the Greek Myth “Orpheus,” as adapted by playwright Sarah Ruhl. The story follows the themes of young love, loss and sacrifice.

Eurydice will be performed March 30 to April 2 and April 6-8.

Spring 2017 Dance Concert

The Spring 2017 Dance Concert ends the Mainstage Series Season with performances April 27 through 30. Mainstage Series showtimes are 7:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays, and 2:00 p.m. on Sundays and second Saturdays.
