Fear Factor made for NIU
November 11, 2016
Students tested their bravery with urine shot challenges, boogers, flea and booger soup, fly guts and ear wax Thursday at Fear Factor in the Glass Lounge of the Holmes Student Center.
Fear Factor was put together by the Holmes Student Center programming team. The event was named after the popular reality TV show from the ‘00s. Much like the show, students who attended were challenged to eat gross things.
However, these challenges had a twist, said Danielle Omdahl, senior communication major and student manager for the programming team at the Holmes Student Center.
“It’s all [edible],” Omdahl said. “We had marshmallows and peanut butter for the earwax, the urine was apple juice, there was crushed pineapples [and] crushed kiwis for the boogers and the fly guts. Super yummy things, but it was really gross making it all.”
“Once they realized that it wasn’t actually urine, they started enjoying it,” said Michael Orea, sophomore finance major and programmer for the Holmes Student Center.
