Guest speaker to address social activism

A guest speaker will visit NIU for a discussion day about social activism. 

David Stovall, professor of educational policy studies and African-American studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago, will lead an open discussion followed with a Q and A session 7 p.m. today in Cole Hall, Room 100.

The lecture, ‘Troubled Waters: Engaging and Understanding Activism in Times of Political and Social Change,’ will focus on these issues within the classroom and schools.

Throughout the day, additional lectures will begin at noon and Stovall will give a student leadership talk at the Center for Black Studies.

Stovall will talk to the College of Education faculty about engaging teachers and student activism.
