NIU celebrates 110th Homecoming parade Thursday

By Northern Star staff

Students, alumni and community members are invited to join the Homecoming Parade 7 p.m. Thursday beginning at the NIU Visual Arts building parking lot.

In honor of NIU celebrating their 110th Homecoming, this year’s theme is “Huskies Through the Decades”.

The parade will feature walking entries, floats, vehicles and NIU’s marching band. Participants in the parade are encouraged to decorate their entries to follow the Homecoming theme. Spectators are welcome to join the fun by wearing light-up items.

The parade route will begin at the NIU Visual Arts Building parking lot on College Ave. and proceed to John St., Locust St., First St., and into downtown via Lincoln Highway ending at the intersection of Third St.

This year a “Performance Point” will be added where spectators can enjoy short performances from select parade entries.
