Pumpkin Festival provides more treats than tricks

Sycamore’s annual Pumpkin Festival starts today with downtown trick-or-treating.

The first event of the festival is a downtown trick-or-treating event 4:30 to 6 p.m. today. Businesses will hand out treats and participants are encouraged to end at the courthouse lawn. There will be a giant cake cutting to finish the evening.

The festival spans from today until Sunday afternoon.

Here are some of the upcoming activities:

Wednesday

  • Opening/Giant Cake Cutting Ceremony – 5 p.m. North Maple St., Sycamore

Thursday

  • Free pumpkin craft – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Midwest Museum of Natural History

Friday

  • United Methodist Church Craft Show – 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. 160 Johnson Ave., Sycamore
  • CRU of NIU – long sleeve Pumpkin Festival shirts 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in front of Stomp Shoe Store

Saturday

  • Lions Club Giant Pumpkin Weigh-in – 10 a.m. courthouse lawn
  • Friends of Jams – African baskets 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Pumpkin Smash – $5 per person 2 p.m. Midwest Museum of Natural History

Sunday

  • Autumn Craft & Treasures Market – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sycamore High School
  • Pumpkin Festival Parade – Starts at 1 p.m.
