By Northern Star staff

An NIU student was arrested for allegedly running a methamphetamine lab out of a storage unit in Sycamore, according to an Oct. 5, 2006 Northern Star article.

In addition to discovering the meth lab, state police also found a cannabis-growing operation. Police seized an estimated street value of $14,000 from 14 cannabis plants.

Ryan P. McMillan, 24, of Sycamore was charged with possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material, unlawful use of property, possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and unlawful production of cannabis sativa plants.

This was the second lab of its kind found in the DeKalb area in about a year and a half, according to Illinois state trooper Bruce Orns.
