Primetime Emmy Award Predictions
September 15, 2016
The 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are sure to be a show to remember — “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” is leading with a whopping 22 overall nominations, chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The awards will air at 7 p.m. Sunday on ABC, Channel 7, from the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. The show will be hosted by talk show host Jimmy Kimmel. Here are three of my predictions on who is going to take home an award.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
This category was really difficult to choose. However, there’s only room for one winner, and Taraji P. Henson has taken TV by storm with her portrayal as Cookie Lyon in “Empire.” Henson’s character is witty and dynamic, her presence exudes through the TV screen and she tells it how she sees fit. Henson is the lead female character and serves as the mother of the three aspiring hip-hop artists led by her ex-husband, Lucious Lyon, portrayed by Terrence Howard.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie
This was one of the easier categories to predict as Cuba Gooding Jr. delivered a phenomenal performance as O.J. Simpson in the TV series “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” Audiences were able to see him delve deeply into the psyche of the infamous O.J. Simpson. Gooding didn’t hold back with his portrayal as Simpson, and audiences could see how serious he took his role in famous scenes that took place in the courtroom. This performance is certainly worthy of an award.
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie
Sarah Paulson took no prisoners in her portrayal as the powerful Marcia Clark, lead prosecutor in the TV series “The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” Paulson is no stranger to taking on different types of roles as she is a main player on “American Horror Story.” Ryan Murphy directed “American Horror Story” and “The People v. O.J. Simpson,” and it’s evident Murphy believed in Paulson’s ability to portray such a strong personality as Clark. Paulson was also nominted for her role as Sally McKenna in “American Horror Story: Hotel.” She will certainly win an award for either.
