The car stolen from the Sycamore double homicide was recovered yesterday near Lincoln Park Zoo.

Patricia A. Wilson, 85, and her son Robert J. Wilson, 64, were found dead by a family member at 16058 Old State Road in Sycamore, Sullivan said. The family member called 911 just before 6 p.m. to report the incident. Signs of forced entry were present at the residence.

The DeKalb County Coroner’s office confirmed the two Sycamore homicide victims “succumbed to injuries due to blunt force trauma,” according to a Aug. 15 Northern Star article.

The Chicago Police Department recovered the 2010 white four-door Chevrolet Impala, license plate 903 0890, that was taken from the residence, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office press release. It is believed the car was taken at or around the time of the crime.

“Our hearts go out to the family,” Sullivan said in a prepared statement. “This is a terrible crime perpetrated on an elderly mother and her son.”

As of Aug. 17, DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott has no comment about the possible motivation for the crime. There is no history of crime within the family, Sullivan said.

The DeKalb County Major Case Squad has been activated, which includes representatives from multiple local law enforcement agencies and 20 detectives. The Chicago Police Department was also activated, according to the press release.

Sullivan said investigators are following up on approximately 300 leads.

“It’s a lengthy process; it’s a timely process,” Sullivan said. “They’ll keep working this until we find somebody.”

DeKalb County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the killer or killers.
