Coltonville Road closed for four more weeks
June 13, 2016
Due to weather conditions, Coltonville Road between West Stonehenge Drive and North First Street will remained closed for approximately four more weeks to allow for the completion of a new bridge over the Kishwaukee River.
Construction of the new bridge began in August 2015, but was repeatedly delayed due to weather events such as heavy rain and snow, according to a press release from the DeKalb County Engineer.
The new bridge, which will be three feet taller than the old bridge, was originally anticipated to be completed by the end of 2015. The current four week estimate is tentative, as completion relies heavily on weather conditions.
Currently, the road and shoulders are scheduled to be paved by contractors this week. The following three weeks will require construction work such as guardrail installation and landscaping.
