Former NIU wide receiver Tommylee Lewis signed with the New Orleans Saints of the NFL as an undrafted free agent recently.

The 23-year-old Florida native was chosen along with fellow 2015 teammate former defensive end Perez Ford, who signed as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders.

Lewis was selected as one of Huskie Stadium’s 50 Greatest Players after starting with the Huskies in 2011. Among his highlights, he set a Huskie record by returning four kickoffs for touchdowns in his four years at NIU.

Ford recorded the most quarterback sacks on the team in 2015 with five. He was also third on the team in tackles for loss with six and a half.

Of the 13 scheduled games NIU will play this fall, its first home game is against San Diego State University on Sept. 17 at Huskie Stadium. Tickets are available at the Athletics Ticket Office in the Convocation Center.
