Registration for Summer in the Arts’ Art, Jazz and Theatre camps are now open for this summer at NIU.

Summer in the Arts at Northern residential camps are for junior high and high school students who will work and live with NIU faculty and alumni to gain a greater appreciation for the life of an artist, according to a news release.

NIU Jazz Camp and Theatre Arts Camp Junior is scheduled for July 10-15. The Jazz Camp is aimed at students in grades 8-12 who want to take their jazz playing to the next level, while the Theatre Arts Camp is designed for students who have completed grades 6-9.

Visual Arts and Theatre Arts Camp Senior are scheduled for July 17-22. The Visual Arts Camp is for artists in grades 8-12.  The Theatre Arts Camp Senior is an intensive program for students who have completed grades 10-12.

There will be a variety of evening recreational activities and campers will sleep and eat in newly-renovated Gilbert Residence Hall.

Early registrations postmarked or received before June 2 will receive a $60 camp fee discount and returning campers save an additional $25.

Need-based scholarship applications are being accepted through May 1 and students are advised to register early because these camps fill up quickly.
