Gender and Sexuality Resource Center to hold events for LGBTQIA Awareness Month
April 28, 2016
The Gender and Sexuality Resource Center will hold a variety of events in honor of LGBTQIA Awareness Month.
The first event, at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Cole Hall, room 100, will be HerStory Community Showing and Discussion. HerStory by Jen Richards is a six episode new-media series that looks inside the dating lives of trans and queer women. A discussion about themes in the video and in society is to follow, according to the flier.
HerStory is about two trans women in Los Angeles who have given up on love. However, fate decides to give them another chance as Violet is drawn to Allie, a reporter who approaches her for an interview. Meanwhile, Paige, a career-driven individual, finds herself attracted to James, the first man she has opened up to in years, according to herstoryshow.com
This event is co-sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Office of External Programs.
In May, there are also five other events: LGBTQ Studies Brownbag Speaker Series, the 2016 CSWGS Student Symposium, the 2016 CSWGS Honors Day Reception and the 7th Annual Lavender Graduation.
