Pass/Fail: Sexual assault app, Time Arts show off campus

By Northern Star staff

Pass:

There is now an NIU app for sexual assault help that will be released in the fall. Safe Passage expects the app to reduce the amount of calls they receive on their 24-hour hotline. The app will go through a list of questions to let users know what their options are. Students can use the app if they are unsure if they have been sexually assaulted. The app will be a great tool for students who do not feel comfortable going to someone directly to find out if they have been sexually assaulted. The app will help inform students what their next steps are and how to seek help.

Fail:

While it is great to see that NIU Time Arts students will be featured in Sycamore’s Light Depot, there needs to be more places students can showcase their work on campus besides the Art Building. NIU has an art gallery close to campus, but it is still a drive away. While the art students have more opportunities to showcase their work, it seems to be only in places off campus. Adding more of students’ works to campus would be a way for students to show off their work, but also a way to decorate different buildings across campus.
