Men’s tennis remains in playoff contention with win against Toledo
April 11, 2016
The Huskies (15-7, 3-2 MAC) bounced back this weekend at home against the University of Toledo Rockets (7-15, 0-5 MAC) on Sunday as they defeated them in a tight match 4-3.
Coach Patrick Fisher said he knows the game was very important for the team.
“We knew coming in how important this game would be and while we didn’t play well, we got the four points we needed,” Fisher said, according to an NIU news release. “It’s hard to talk about improving so late in the season, but we continue to struggle at certain spots and it’s hard to gain confidence when you take one step forward and two steps back. Next week will be even bigger for us.”
The Huskie win ended a two-game losing streak in the conference and keeps them in the top four of the MAC Conference, which qualifies them for the playoffs.
