Gender and sexuality symposium celebrates student excellence

By Northern Star staff

The NIU Center for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality will host a symposium featuring papers students submitted 1-4 p.m. May 6 in the Holmes Student Center, Regency Room.

The 2016 Center for the Study of Women, Gender and Sexuality Student Symposium collected 500-600 word papers in April. Students wrote about topics like love and sexuality in relationships, dynamics of sex roles and gender ideals.

Afterwards, the center will also host a Honors Day Reception at 4:30 p.m.

The Honors Day Event will celebrate the accomplishments made by the center, their students and staff where one student who submitted a paper will win the “Best Paper” prize.

Graduation cords will be handed out to Women’s Gender Studies and Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Studies undergraduates who are graduating May or August.
