Latino Resource Center to honor Cesar Chavez with blood drive
March 4, 2016
A blood drive will be held in honor of Cesar Chavez 2-6 p.m. March 23 in the Latino Resource Center, according to a news release.
“… Cesar Chavez was one of the first farmers in California that… was working for the migration,” said Luis Santos-Rivas, Latino Resource Center director.
Chavez was an American farmworker and civil rights activist and the day of the blood drive, March 23, is his birthday, Santos-Rivas said. Chavez founded the National Farm Workers Association, Santos-Rivas said, and the blood drive is a way to celebrate his legacy. This the second year the center has held a blood drive to honor his legacy, Santos-Rivas said.
The blood drive will be held in the Latino Resource Center’s main classroom. To schedule a donation time contact the Latino Resource Center at 815-753-1986.
